Building on my previous thoughts about AI readiness in UK public services, I'd like to explore how we can translate our high global ranking into tangible benefits for citizens.

The recent £100 million investment to enhance regulators' AI capabilities marks a significant step towards responsible AI adoption. As someone who's led user research on government digital projects, I'm keen to see how this funding will shape user-centred approaches to AI governance.

Key considerations:

How can we ensure AI tools developed for regulators truly meet the needs of both oversight bodies and citizens?

What role should user researchers play in shaping cross-sector risk assessment methodologies?

Drawing from my experience with the Department for Education's teacher training service, I've seen how crucial it is to involve end-users throughout the development process. As we embrace AI across public services, how might we adapt our user research techniques to capture the unique challenges posed by these advanced systems?

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on evolving user-centred design practices for this new era of AI-enhanced public services.
